Wondershare Recoverit for Mac

Data Recovery Software Review - Is It Worth It?

TL;DR - Recoverit for Mac

Wondershare Recoverit is a capable Mac data recovery tool rated 4/5 stars. It offers a clean interface, claims 96% recovery success, and costs $59.99-$79.99/year. Good for deleted files, formatted drives, and external devices. However, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard is better for most users due to faster scans and bootable recovery options.

After 20+ years as a Mac consultant in the Bay Area, I recommend trying Recoverit if EaseUS doesn't find your files - sometimes a second tool catches what the first missed." — Dan Fries, Berkeley Mac Guy

My Take on Recoverit

Wondershare Recoverit is a solid data recovery option for Mac users. While it's not my #1 pick (that goes to EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard), Recoverit holds its own with a user-friendly interface and competitive success rates.

Best for: Users who want a straightforward recovery tool without complex options, or those who've had mixed results with other software.

Pros

  • Clean, intuitive interface
  • Good preview before recovery
  • Handles large drives well
  • Regular macOS updates
  • Free scan to see files first

Considerations

  • Deep scans can be slow
  • Some advanced features need Pro tier
  • No bootable recovery option

How to Use Recoverit

  1. Download & Install - Get the free trial from Wondershare's site
  2. Select Location - Choose the drive or folder where files were lost
  3. Scan - Quick scan runs first, then deep scan for thorough recovery
  4. Preview - Browse and preview found files before recovering
  5. Recover - Select files and save to a different drive

Important: Never recover files to the same drive they were lost from. This can overwrite the very data you're trying to save.

Verdict: 4/5 Stars

Recoverit is a capable Mac data recovery tool that gets the job done. The interface is cleaner than some competitors, and the recovery success rate is competitive. It's a solid choice, especially if you've tried EaseUS and want an alternative.

For most users, I'd still recommend trying EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard first - but Recoverit is a worthy second option.

When Software Won't Work

If your drive isn't recognized by your Mac at all, or you hear clicking/grinding noises, you likely have a hardware failure. Software can't help with physical damage.

For physical failures: Professional data recovery is your only option. I recommend DriveSavers - they've recovered data for my clients when drives were completely dead.
